I’m a writer who has followed different paths. I’ve self-published and am publishing with a small press. I’ve interned with mid-sized publishers and literary agencies. I’ve worked at small presses in every aspect of the editing process from submissions to proofreading.
So what does this all mean?
It means I know how hard publishing a novel is, no matter what path you pick.
While there are only a few services listed below, the list will grow should there be a demand for it. I am not currently working with any Middle Grade, Space Opera, Erotica, or anyone who plans on submitting to Pen Name Publishing due to ethical conflicts. Below you’ll find a list of my services and their prices. All services are invoiced through PayPal. I work on a deposit basis: 50% down, with the remaining 50% due at time of completion. I offer payment plans on a case-by-case basis.

Query and Pitch Services
— Query Letter Critique – $25 – A three-pass process where we work with the author on editing their query letter and helping them personalize for the agent or editor it is intended for. Besides personalization, we would help the author strengthen and clarify their stakes and overall pitch.
— Query Letter + 1st chapter – $45 – The same three-pass process described above, including multiple passes of the writer’s first chapter. This includes suggestions on how to strengthen the manuscript’s opening, should it need it, as well as proofreading.
— Query Letter + Twitter Pitch Critique – $30, +$5 for every two extra pitches – The same three-pass process described above, plus brainstorming and creation of two pitches for twitter pitch events.
— Twitter Pitch Critiques – $10 per pitch – Brainstorming and creation of pitches for twitter pitch events.
— First 50 Pages – $60 – Editor will read the first 50 pages of the author’s manuscript, leaving comments and suggestions on the pages themselves in order to help the author strengthen the beginning of their manuscript. The editor will also write up a letter outlining big-picture thoughts, as well as bring up any major issues found if there are any. This is not a line or copy edit.
— Reader’s Report – $160 (50,000 – 100,000 words), $260 (100,000+ words) – Editor will read full manuscript and write up a 1-page report on the manuscript’s strengths, weaknesses, and evaluation of readiness for publication or querying. This is not meant to replace a developmental edit, nor is it as in-depth as a developmental edit. It’s meant as an overview and evaluation only.
— Developmental Edit – .003 per word – Editor will read full manuscript and write up an evaluation of the project’s strengths and weaknesses. This includes comments and suggestions pertaining to plot, character development, world building, as well as how well the project fits into the author’s desired genre.
— Premium Developmental Edit – .005 per word – Editor will read full manuscript and write up an evaluation of the project’s strengths and weaknesses. This includes comments and suggestions pertaining to plot, character development, world building, as well as how well the project fits into the author’s desired genre. The editor will also leave comments and suggests on the manuscript itself to point out specific places where the writer can improve. This is not a copy or line edit, however.
— Proofreading – $1 per page – Editor will read full manuscript and use Track Changes in Word to make any corrections to grammar, punctuation, style, and continuity. This is a service that is meant to be the last step before publication. Therefore, the manuscript should have already been through developmental and line editing.
